Superb Pair of 16th Century Newel Posts
Pair of late 16th Century Elizabethan period carved oak Newel posts from a staircase. The columns of architectural form, each surmounted by a carved oak figure depicting two of the ten weepers from the tomb of Isabella of Bourbon, after Renier Van Thienen, (1465-1498) born in Brussels. Retaining a good colour and patination.
