Pair of attractive Compton pottery book ends depicting sailing galleons, perfect condition and clearly marked underneath,
Compton Pottery Guildford. The potters art guild was founded in 1904 by the artist and designer Mary Seton Watts. The aim was to promote traditional craft practices and create jobs for the local community. Mary said of the guild ‘Noone can do better than try to make a delightful village industry, beautiful things, beautifully made by people in a beautiful country’. The pottery thrived for over 50 years before closing in 1956. Circa 1910
