Monumental oil painting canvas laid on board of the church and the old rectory, Whichford in Warickshire. Commissioned by Warick county council in the 1930’s. Painted by the famous artist Rowland Frederick Hilder OBE, 1905 – 1993.
Rowland Hilder was an English marine, landscape artist and book illustrator, commissioned by shell to illustrate posters. He has been called the Turner of his generation. The description of Rowland Hilder country evokes a landscape as distinctive and personal as Constables country. He was also the cover artist for the radio times and awarded the OBE in 1986. He became president of the Royal Institute of Painters in watercolour 1964 -1974. His paintings are exhibited world wide. Circa 1930
