Fine pair of early 19th Century hand carved white marble Corinthian capitals.
Provenance – Removed from Deep Dean house, Dorking, Surrey. Home of the celebrated designer Thomas Hope. remodelled in 1832 and demolished in 1967. The Historian Nicolas Pevsner summed up the demise of Hope’s masterpiece as a ‘disgraceful and depressing story’.
